AEROSPACE ENGINEERING & DEFENCE
The world-leading Keyhole TIG welding system allows aerospace and defence engineers the freedom for enhanced creativity within the fabrication environment, due to the increased flexibility and capabilities of K-TIG over traditional welding techniques.
The deep penetration of a K-TIG weld allows up to 16mm joins to be bonded in a single pass. This means joins no longer need to be welded in multiple passes on both sides of the material.
Materials used in the aerospace engineering and defence industries need to be able to withstand extremely high temperatures. The only way some of these “exotic’’ materials – titaniums, zirconium and Inconels – can be welded is using TIG welding technology. The K-TIG system has supercharged this technology, overcoming some of the barriers of a standard TIG weld such as distortion, weld quality and speeds.
K-TIG welding also greatly improves the strength and quality of a weld by using no filler material for welds of up to 5mm thickness.
This eliminates the foreign material in a weld, providing a cleaner result and less chance of corrosion, not to mention huge cost savings in weld preparation and exotic fillers.
